Steve Bannon Freed After Four Months, Says Prison "Empowered Me"
Oct 29, 2024, 12:51 PM
Former White House strategist Steve Bannon was released from federal prison on October 29, 2024, after serving a four-month sentence at FCI Danbury in Connecticut for contempt of Congress. Bannon had been convicted in July 2022 for refusing to comply with a subpoena issued by the House committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. During his imprisonment, Bannon taught history and American government classes to fellow inmates. Upon his release, he was greeted by his daughter, Maureen Bannon. Bannon immediately resumed hosting his political podcast, 'War Room,' stating, "The four months in federal prison did not break me; it empowered me. I am more energized and more focused than I've ever been in my entire life." He also held a press conference at the Regency Hotel in New York City at 3 p.m. Bannon accused House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of trying to break him by sending him to prison and urged supporters to vote in the upcoming presidential election, now one week away, expressing his commitment to supporting former President Donald Trump's campaign.
