Star Health Confirms Cyberattack; Hackers Selling 31M Customer Data Including PAN Details for $150K
Oct 9, 2024, 07:21 PM
Star Health Insurance, an Indian insurance firm with $1.4 billion in revenue, has confirmed it suffered a malicious cyberattack. Hackers claim to have obtained personal data, including names, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, PAN card details, and salary information, of approximately 31 million customers. The data is reportedly being offered for sale on Telegram for prices ranging from $43,000 to $150,000. The breach highlights the growing concern over cybersecurity in the healthcare industry, where private data is highly valuable and vulnerable to attacks. Star Health's acknowledgment comes two weeks after cybercriminals claimed to have posted customers' health records and other sensitive data online.
