South Korea May Send Weapons to Ukraine Amid North Korean Troop Threat: Bloomberg
Oct 28, 2024, 12:43 PM
South Korea is considering a significant policy shift to send weapons directly to Ukraine, as reported by Bloomberg. This potential change comes in response to reports that North Korean troops may soon be deployed to the frontlines in Ukraine. South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol indicated this possibility during a press conference in Seoul with Polish President Andrzej Duda. Experts, however, suggest that South Korea's position may not change immediately due to existing legislative restrictions. The deployment of North Korean troops to Ukraine could happen faster than expected, according to Yonhap news agency. If some of Seoul's large stockpiles of artillery shells are sent to Kyiv, it would mark a reversal of South Korea's policy prohibiting lethal aid to belligerent countries.
