Scottie Scheffler Wins Olympic Gold in Paris with Record-Tying 62; Fleetwood Takes Silver
Aug 4, 2024, 03:45 PM
Scottie Scheffler, the world No. 1 golfer, won the gold medal in men's individual golf at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Scheffler staged a remarkable comeback, shooting a bogey-free final round of 62, which tied the course record at Le Golf National. He surged from four shots behind to finish with a score of 19 under par. This victory marks Scheffler's seventh win of the season, adding to an already impressive year that includes a Masters victory and a Players Championship win. Scheffler is the first world No. 1 to win an Olympic gold medal while holding the top spot. His victory continues the United States' success in Olympic golf, following Xander Schauffele's gold in 2020 and Matt Kuchar's bronze in 2016. Great Britain's Tommy Fleetwood won the silver medal.
