World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler Detained by Louisville Police Outside Valhalla for Day 2 of PGA Championship
May 17, 2024, 11:03 AM
World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler was detained by Louisville Metro Police this morning after a misunderstanding with traffic flow led him to attempt to drive past a police officer into Valhalla Golf Club. The incident occurred as Scheffler was trying to enter the course for Day 2 of the PGA Championship. Reports indicate that Scheffler was in an official PGA vehicle and was attempting to cross an accident scene after being told to stop. The officer started yelling obscenities at Scheffler, who then rolled his window down, leading to a chaotic exchange. Scheffler was subsequently handcuffed and placed into a police vehicle. ESPN reported the incident, and the PGA Championship start has been delayed by at least an hour due to this incident and an unrelated pedestrian fatality at the course entrance. The next update will be at 7 a.m. ET.
