Saudi Arabia executed six Iranian citizens on Wednesday on charges of drug trafficking, specifically for smuggling hashish, according to the Saudi Press Agency. The Ministry of Interior announced that the individuals were executed in Dammam, a city in the Eastern Province on the Gulf coast, which is home to the country's Shiite minority. The executions, carried out on the first day of 2025, bring the total number of people executed for drug-related offenses to 117 and contribute to a total of 338 executions in 2024, the highest figure in decades.
