Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut Sentenced to 15 Days, ₹25,000 Fine in Defamation Case

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has been convicted in a defamation case filed by Dr. Medha Kirit Somaiya, the wife of BJP leader Kirit Somaiya. The Metropolitan Magistrate's 25th Court in Mazgaon, Mumbai, sentenced Raut to 15 days of simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹25,000 as compensation. Raut was convicted under Section 500 of the Indian Penal Code. The case was filed following allegations made by Raut against the Somaiyas. After the conviction, Raut was taken into custody.
