NYC Mayor Eric Adams' Corruption Trial Set for April 21, 2025
Nov 1, 2024, 07:35 PM
New York City Mayor Eric Adams is facing legal challenges as he prepares for a federal corruption trial. A federal judge recently denied Adams' request for an evidentiary hearing and sanctions over alleged leaks by the government, stating that Adams failed to make a prima facie showing that the government was behind the leaks. Adams, who has pleaded not guilty, is accused of accepting bribes from Turkish nationals to ease consulate construction despite safety concerns. His trial is scheduled to start on April 21, 2025, a date set by the judge after Adams requested March and the Southern District of New York requested May. Adams' lawyers are currently seeking to have the bribery charge dismissed, and he is expected back in court on Friday for this purpose. The court will allocate 20 minutes each for arguments on November 1 regarding Count V, the Turkish bribery count.
