Apr 15, 2024, 09:30 AM
Samsung is set to significantly expand its presence in the U.S. semiconductor industry with a planned investment of approximately $44 billion in Texas. This investment, aimed at establishing a new chip manufacturing facility, research and development space, and packaging site, represents a substantial increase from its previous $20 billion investment in 2021. The project, expected to be unveiled next week, will be located in Taylor, Texas, and involves collaboration with Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo. Additionally, the Biden administration has committed to providing up to $6.4 billion in grants to support this initiative. Samsung plans to construct two foundry fabrication plants in Austin, Texas, targeting the production of 2nm and 4nm logic chips by 2026.
