Sep 20, 2024, 03:23 AM
Taiwan announced that it will now allow same-sex couples involving Taiwanese nationals and their partners from China, Hong Kong, and Macau to legally register their marriages in Taiwan. This move, confirmed by Taipei on Thursday, marks the first time cross-strait same-sex unions are recognized. The decision, announced by Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council, is expected to benefit hundreds of couples in the democratically run archipelago, provided they first get married in a third country.
