VisitSpain Imposes Record €179 Million Fine on Ryanair and Others for Charging Hand Luggage Fees
Nov 22, 2024, 07:36 AM
Spain's Ministry of Consumer Affairs (Consumo) has imposed a record fine of 179 million euros on five low-cost airlines—Ryanair, Vueling, EasyJet, Norwegian, and Volotea—for engaging in abusive practices such as charging passengers for hand luggage, seat selection, and printing of boarding passes. Ryanair was identified as the primary offender among the airlines fined. The sanctions aim to address additional fees for services that should be included in the ticket price.
