Trump Assassination Attempt Suspect Faces West Palm Beach Detention Hearing Over Gun Charges
Sep 23, 2024, 01:42 PM
Ryan Routh, the suspect in an apparent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, is facing gun charges and is due to appear in court for a detention hearing in West Palm Beach. The FBI and federal prosecutors revealed that Routh had been hiding with a gun near Trump's Florida golf course and had planned the attempt for months. Evidence includes a letter Routh wrote stating, 'This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I failed you,' and offering a $150,000 bounty to anyone who could 'finish the job.' Routh's cell phone records show he had been near Trump's golf course and Mar-a-Lago resort multiple times from August to mid-September. Authorities had received multiple reports raising suspicions about Routh in the years leading up to his arrest. Routh was found with six cell phones at the time of his arrest.
