WBC Expels Ryan Garcia Over Racial Slurs in Thursday Twitter Live
Jul 5, 2024, 02:08 AM
The World Boxing Council (WBC) has expelled boxer Ryan Garcia following his use of racial slurs and discriminatory remarks on social media, including a Twitter Live session on Thursday. WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman announced the decision, expressing concern for Garcia's well-being and noting that Garcia had declined multiple offers for help with mental health and substance abuse issues. The expulsion comes after Garcia made offensive comments about the Black and Muslim communities, including derogatory remarks about George Floyd and claiming affiliation with the KKK. As a result, Garcia has also lost at least four endorsement deals. Stephen Jackson has publicly responded to Garcia's comments.
