Ryan Garcia Denies Drug Use Allegations; Haney Seeks Legal Win, Rematch Proposed
May 13, 2024, 06:10 PM
In the aftermath of the boxing match between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney, controversy has erupted over allegations of Garcia's drug use and other infractions. Garcia, who has denied these claims, has been accused of being 60 times over the allowable limit for the banned substance Ostarine, as per NSAC regulations. Despite these allegations, he was cleared for one banned substance by the New York Commission. Haney's attorney has taken legal steps, requesting the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) to disqualify Garcia and declare Haney the winner due to multiple violations including PED use, prohibited use of IVs, and Garcia missing weight intentionally as a tactic. Additionally, Haney has filed a complaint with the NYSAC about various issues from the fight, including the alleged use of an IV drip by Garcia, which is not permitted in New York. Amidst these legal battles, Haney has already received over $1.3 million as compensation for Garcia missing weight. Meanwhile, Garcia has proposed a rematch, and separately, the WBC has ordered Haney to defend his WBC super-lightweight world title against Sandor Martin.
