U.S. Researchers Identify Probable Site for Russia's Burevestnik Missile Near Vologda-20
Sep 2, 2024, 03:45 PM
Two U.S. researchers have identified a probable deployment site for Russia's new nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed cruise missile, the 9M370 Burevestnik. The site is located 295 miles north of Moscow, near the Vologda-20 nuclear warhead storage facility, also known as Chebsara. This missile, touted by President Vladimir Putin as 'invincible,' is still unlikely to be ready for operational service. The researchers used satellite images from Planet Labs, taken on July 26, to pinpoint the location. Some experts have expressed concerns about the potential risks associated with the missile, likening it to a 'flying Chernobyl' due to the possibility of a radiation-spewing mishap.
