Rite Aid to Pay $101 Million, $409 Million Settlement in Whistleblower Case

Rite Aid Corporation and several of its subsidiaries have agreed to pay $101 million to resolve allegations of failing to accurately report drug rebates to Medicare, according to the U.S. Justice Department. Additionally, Rite Aid will pay $7.5 million and allow a claim of $401.8 million in its bankruptcy case to settle allegations under the False Claims Act and Controlled Substances Act. The Department of Justice also obtained a $409 million settlement in a whistleblower lawsuit against Rite Aid. The firm's blended rate for attorneys in the bankruptcy case was $1,172 hourly for April.
