A methane gas explosion at a coal mine in Tabas, South Khorasan Province, Iran, on Sunday morning has resulted in the deaths of at least 51 miners and injuries to 20 others, according to Iranian state media. The explosion occurred in blocks B and C of the mine operated by the Madanjoo company. There were 69 workers present at the time of the incident. Rescue operations are ongoing, with several miners still trapped underground. The incident is one of the deadliest mining accidents in Iran in recent years.
