Poland Retracts Claim of UAV Shahed Drone Violation in Airspace
Sep 7, 2024, 09:22 AM
Poland has retracted its earlier claims that a UAV drone violated its airspace. General Maciej Klisz, the operational commander of the Polish Armed Forces, stated that there is a very high probability that no Iranian-origin Shahed drone entered Polish airspace. This announcement follows initial reports suggesting an Iranian-origin Shahed drone had crossed into Poland. The Polish military had been searching for the drone for 10 days. Meanwhile, Poland remains on high alert due to recent Russian strikes reaching Lviv, prompting Poland to scramble jets for interception. Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski has asserted on BBC Radio 4 that Poland has the right to shoot down Russian missiles over Ukraine if they pose a threat to Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
