Phoenix, Arizona, has officially recorded its hottest summer on record in 2024, surpassing the previous record set in 2023. The average temperature for the summer was 99°F (37.2°C). Additionally, Phoenix has experienced an unprecedented 100 consecutive days with temperatures reaching 100°F or higher, breaking the previous record of 76 days set in 1993. This streak is expected to continue with no end currently in sight. The National Weather Service has noted that this summer has been the hottest ever recorded in Phoenix, with the highest temperature reaching 118°F twice in July. On August 30, the high temperature at Sky Harbor was 110 degrees, which is 6 degrees above normal. Other locations in Arizona, such as Yuma, also recorded their hottest summer on record.
