28 Pakistani Pilgrims Killed, 23 Injured in Iran Bus Crash on Tuesday Night
Aug 21, 2024, 07:25 AM
A tragic bus accident in central Iran on Tuesday night has resulted in the deaths of at least 28 Pakistani pilgrims and injuries to 23 others. The bus, which was carrying 51 passengers, overturned at a checkpost in the province of Yazd while en route to the Iraqi city of Karbala for the Arbaeen pilgrimage, a significant Shiite Muslim event. The crash is believed to have been caused by overspeeding and a technical defect in the bus's braking system, leading to the vehicle ramming into a school wall. The Pakistani Embassy is in contact with Iranian authorities following the incident.
