VisitOpenAI Projects $44 Billion in Losses by 2028, $14 Billion in 2026, Profitability by 2029
Oct 9, 2024, 09:31 PM
OpenAI is forecasting significant financial changes over the next decade. The company projects its revenue to more than triple to $11.6 billion in 2025 and reach $100 billion by 2029. However, these gains come with substantial losses. OpenAI's losses are expected to triple to $14 billion by 2026, with total losses from 2023 to 2028 projected to be $44 billion, excluding stock compensation. The company, which already burned $340 million in the first half of 2024, does not expect to become profitable until 2029. These projections are driven by rising infrastructure costs and heavy investments in AI research. Microsoft, a key partner, receives a 20% cut of OpenAI's revenues.
