Oklahoma State Football to Use QR Codes on Helmets and Travel Bags for NIL Fundraising
Aug 20, 2024, 04:06 PM
Oklahoma State University has announced that its football players will wear helmets featuring QR codes linked to the team's Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) fund during the 2024 season. This initiative, described as a first in college football, allows fans to scan the QR codes to donate to the team's general fund, which benefits all student-athletes on the roster. The QR codes will be placed on the back of each player's helmet, incorporated into a 1.5 square inch decal that includes the player's name and number. Additionally, QR codes will also be featured on the players' travel bags. Oklahoma State's head coach, Mike Gundy, called this move a 'revolutionary step forward' to enhance the program's competitiveness and support for its athletes. The QR codes are expected to increase the team's NIL value through visibility during game broadcasts and social media posts.
