Malaysia Agrees to New MH370 Search with Ocean Infinity After 10 Years
Dec 20, 2024, 08:10 AM
Malaysia has agreed in principle to resume the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, more than 10 years after it vanished. Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook announced on Friday that the government is negotiating terms with U.S. seabed exploration firm Ocean Infinity to search for the wreckage in a new area of approximately 15,000 square kilometers in the southern Indian Ocean. The search area is based on the latest information and data analysis provided by Ocean Infinity. The Boeing 777 disappeared on March 8, 2014, while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 227 passengers and 12 crew members on board. Previous searches, including one in 2018 by Ocean Infinity, have failed to locate the aircraft, making it one of aviation's greatest mysteries.
