Dec 22, 2024, 07:31 PM
A woman died after being set on fire while sleeping on an F train at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue subway station in Brooklyn early Sunday morning. According to the New York Police Department, the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. when an unidentified man, believed to be in his 20s, allegedly threw a lit match at the woman, igniting her clothing. The suspect reportedly sat across from the victim before the attack and was seen watching her burn from a bench afterward. The woman, who was reportedly surrounded by liquor bottles and believed to be homeless, was pronounced dead at the scene after police extinguished the flames. Authorities have released surveillance images of the suspect, who fled the scene, and are seeking the public's assistance in locating him. The NYPD is investigating the incident as a homicide and has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
