Nvidia Completes Non-Functional Mask Change for Blackwell GPUs, Production Starts Q4 into Fiscal 2026
Aug 28, 2024, 09:24 PM
Nvidia Corporation announced in its latest earnings report that it has completed a change to the mask of its upcoming Blackwell GPU architecture. This change, described as non-functional, is intended to improve production yield without affecting the functionality of the GPUs. The production ramp for Blackwell is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of this year and will continue into fiscal 2026. CEO Jensen Huang confirmed that the company is currently sampling functional samples of the Grace Blackwell architecture across various system configurations. The change involves approximately 100 different variations, which are expected to facilitate the development of larger frontier models.
