NVIDIA Launches Open-Source Cosmos Platform for Autonomous Vehicles and Robots at CES 2025
Jan 7, 2025, 04:37 AM
NVIDIA Corp. has unveiled its Cosmos platform at CES 2025, aimed at accelerating the development of physical AI systems such as autonomous vehicles and robots. The platform includes state-of-the-art generative world foundation models (WFMs) trained on 20 million hours of video data, designed to understand and simulate the physical world. Cosmos enables the generation of photoreal, physics-based synthetic data, which can be used to train and evaluate AI models. The platform is open-source and available under NVIDIA's open model license, with early adopters including leading companies in robotics and autonomous vehicles such as 1X, Agility, Figure AI, and Uber. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang highlighted the platform's potential to democratize physical AI, suggesting that a 'ChatGPT moment' for robotics is imminent. The platform integrates with NVIDIA Omniverse for 3D scenario development, and utilizes NVIDIA NeMo Curator for accelerated video processing on the NVIDIA Blackwell platform. It also features the NVIDIA Cosmos Tokenizer, offering 8x more total compression and 12x faster processing, alongside the NVIDIA NeMo framework for efficient model training. NVIDIA DGX Cloud and NVIDIA AI Enterprise provide further support for deployment and enterprise use.
