14-Year-Old from Pandikkad Panchayat in Kerala Dies from Nipah Virus, Govt Takes Action

A 14-year-old boy from Pandikkad Panchayat in Malappuram district, Kerala, has tested positive for the Nipah virus, confirmed by the National Institute of Virology in Pune. The boy was admitted to a private hospital in Kozhikode and later passed away. Kerala Health Minister Veena George convened a high-level meeting to address the situation and implement preventive measures. The government has set up a control room in Malappuram district and initiated the Standard Operating Procedure. People in Malappuram have been asked to wear masks. This marks the fifth instance of Nipah virus confirmation in Kerala since 2018.
