Jun 17, 2024, 04:03 AM
Nikhil Gupta, an Indian national, has been extradited from the Czech Republic to the United States. Gupta is accused of involvement in a failed murder-for-hire plot targeting Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, an American-Canadian citizen and founder of the pro-Khalistan outfit Sikhs For Justice. The extradition was executed on June 14, 2024, at Prague-Ruzyně Airport, following approvals from various Czech courts and the Ministry of Justice. Gupta is currently detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, and is expected to appear before a federal court on Monday. The plot, allegedly linked to the Indian government, involved a payment of $415,000 to hire a hitman.
