NASA Adjusts Crew-9 Roster: Hague and Gorbunov to Launch September 24
Aug 30, 2024, 02:54 PM
NASA has announced changes to the upcoming SpaceX Crew-9 mission to the International Space Station, scheduled for no earlier than September 24. Veteran astronaut Nick Hague will now command the mission, with Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov serving as the pilot. This change comes as NASA makes room for the return of the Starliner crew, resulting in the removal of rookie astronaut Zena Cardman and veteran astronaut Stephanie Wilson from the Crew-9 flight. The mission will launch from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. This adjustment is part of an ongoing program ensuring collaboration between NASA and Roscosmos, with each agency having representation on each other's spacecraft. NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams will take the two empty seats created by this change.
