Dec 12, 2024, 11:09 PM
The Biden administration has approved a new $500 million military aid package for Ukraine, as announced by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby. This marks the 72nd such drawdown of U.S. security assistance to Ukraine since the conflict began. The package includes additional air defense systems, artillery, drones, armored vehicles, ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), and equipment to protect against biological, chemical, and nuclear threats. The United States has provided a total of $62 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since February 24, 2022. The Biden administration is authorized to send nearly $6 billion more without Congressional approval.
