Waukesha County Judge Michael Bohren Grants Morgan Geyser Conditional Release to Group Home in Slender Man Case
Jan 10, 2025, 09:13 AM
Morgan Geyser, one of the two assailants in the 2014 Slender Man stabbing case, has been granted conditional release from a psychiatric hospital by Waukesha County Circuit Judge Michael Bohren. Geyser, now 22, was 12 years old when she and Anissa Weier stabbed their classmate Payton Leutner 19 times in an attempt to please the fictional horror character Slender Man. After nearly seven years at the Winnebago Mental Health Institute, Geyser's release was supported by three medical experts who testified to her significant progress in mental health treatment. The judge ordered the state Department of Health Services to develop a plan for her supervised release within 60 days, after which she is expected to reside in a group home. Geyser's release marks a significant step in her rehabilitation, despite the brutal nature of her crime.
