Dec 8, 2024, 02:37 AM
Rayados de Monterrey advanced to the final of the Apertura 2024 after defeating Atlético de San Luis with an aggregate score of 5-3. Playing at home in the Estadio BBVA, also known as 'Gigante de Acero', Monterrey overcame a 2-1 deficit from the first leg held on December 7th and 8th, 2024. Oliver Torres was instrumental, scoring two goals at the 46th and 84th minutes. Germán Berterame, who now has four goals in the Liguilla, added another at the 52nd minute to give Monterrey the lead. Despite a penalty converted by Sébastien Salles-Lamonge for San Luis in the 75th minute, Monterrey sealed the victory with an own goal by Daniel Guillén in the 82nd minute. This will be Rayados' first final appearance in five years. Monterrey awaits the winner of the semifinal between Cruz Azul and América to determine their opponent in the final.
