Genmo Launches Mochi 1: New 10b Param Open-Source AI Video Model Under Apache 2.0

AI video startup Genmo has launched Mochi 1, an open-source video generation model. Released under the permissive Apache 2.0 license, Mochi 1 aims to compete with leading models such as Runway's Gen-3 Alpha. The 10b param model, which utilizes asymmetric diffusion transformers, is capable of generating 6 seconds of video at 24 frames per second (fps) and 480p resolution, with plans to expand its capabilities. The preview version is currently available, with weights available for deployment, and an HD version is expected in Q4 2024. Local inference currently requires 4 x H100's. Mochi 1 is noted for its smooth motion and strong prompt adherence, closing the gap between closed and open video generation models.
