Miyazaki Airport in southwest Japan was temporarily closed on Wednesday after an unexploded American bomb from World War II detonated near its runway, creating a crater seven meters wide. The explosion, which partially destroyed the taxiway, led to the suspension of all flights to and from the airport, with nearly 90 flights cancelled. No injuries were reported. Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the explosion, which occurred on the site of a former air force base where unexploded ordnance has been found in the past.
