New Book Reveals McConnell Privately Called Trump 'Despicable,' 'Stupid,' 'Narcissist' After 2020 Election
Oct 17, 2024, 11:53 AM
A forthcoming biography of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell reveals that following the 2020 election, McConnell privately characterized then-President Donald Trump as "stupid as well as being ill-tempered," a "despicable human being," and a "narcissist." According to excerpts from the book, McConnell expressed relief at the American people's decision to "fire" Trump, stating that they had "just enough of the misrepresentations, the outright lies almost on a daily basis." He noted that it wasn't just Democrats "counting the days" until Trump left office. In December 2020, when Trump was blocking a federal rescue package with $600 checks, McConnell reportedly fumed, "This despicable human being is sitting on this package of relief that the American people desperately need." The biography, based on McConnell's oral diaries and private remarks, is scheduled for release on October 29th.
