Trump Threatens Up to 100% Tariffs on Mexico Over Drugs and Illegal Immigration
Nov 4, 2024, 05:59 PM
Former President Donald Trump has announced plans to impose tariffs on Mexican imports unless Mexico halts the flow of criminals, drugs, and illegal immigrants into the United States. Speaking in Raleigh, Trump stated that he would inform Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum on his first day in office, or sooner, of an immediate 25% tariff on all goods sent to the U.S. if the "onslaught" is not stopped. He emphasized the severity of the issue by citing the loss of 300,000 American lives annually due to drugs entering from Mexico, particularly fentanyl. Trump indicated that if necessary, he is prepared to increase the tariffs up to 50%, 75%, or even 100% until Mexico takes action. He declared, "We are going to tariff the hell out of them."
