U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Florida Congressman and Bitcoin fan Matt Gaetz for the position of Attorney General. Gaetz, a known Bitcoin and cryptocurrency advocate, has been vocal about his support for deregulation in the industry and opposition to federal overreach by agencies such as the SEC. Trump highlighted Gaetz's commitment to rooting out systemic corruption within the Department of Justice. In June, Gaetz introduced a bill to allow federal income tax payments in Bitcoin and has also tabled a bill requiring the Internal Revenue Service to accept Bitcoin payments. The nomination was announced on November 14.
