Commanders Acquire Four-Time Pro Bowl CB Marshon Lattimore from Saints for 2025 Day 2 Pick
Nov 5, 2024, 05:57 PM
The New Orleans Saints are trading four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore to the Washington Commanders, sources report. The Commanders, aiming for the NFC East crown, have acquired Lattimore in exchange for a 2025 Day 2 draft pick. Lattimore, 28, will cost Washington just $605,000 against the cap this year and is under contract through 2026, with $36.5 million due over the final two non-guaranteed years. The Saints will absorb significant dead cap hits of $14.01 million in 2024 and $31.6 million in 2025. The acquisition addresses a major need for the Commanders' secondary as they contend with division rivals like the Eagles, bolstering their defense against top receivers such as A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. The Chiefs were also reportedly interested in Lattimore, but Washington emerged as the frontrunner amid intensifying negotiations before the trade deadline. Lattimore is currently recovering from a hamstring injury but is expected to contribute significantly upon his return.
