Supreme Court Rejects Meadows's Bid to Move Georgia 2020 Election Case to Federal Court
Nov 12, 2024, 03:00 PM
The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows's appeal to move his Georgia election interference case to federal court. Meadows, who served under former President Donald Trump, had sought to shift his prosecution from state to federal court to mount immunity arguments as a federal official. The case, brought by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis as a RICO indictment, charges Meadows alongside Trump and others in connection with efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. With the Supreme Court's denial, Meadows has exhausted all of his legal avenues to move the case, leaving it to proceed in Georgia state court.
