Maduro Suspends Diplomatic Relations as Latin American Nations Demand Review of Venezuelan Election Results
Jul 29, 2024, 09:03 PM
The governments of nine Latin American countries, including Argentina, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic, have expressed profound concern over the recent Venezuelan election results. These nations have called for an emergency meeting of the Organization of American States (OAS) to address the issue and demanded a complete review of the election results. In response, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has expelled ambassadors from Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, Panama, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay, and suspended diplomatic relations with these countries. Maduro has also ordered the withdrawal of Venezuelan diplomatic personnel from these nations, accusing them of ignoring the election results.
