Lukashenko Deploys Nearly a Third of Belarusian Army to Ukraine Border
Aug 18, 2024, 09:35 AM
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has announced the deployment of Belarusian troops along the entire border with Ukraine, with nearly a third of the army sent to the border. This move comes in response to what Lukashenko claims is the presence of over 120,000 Ukrainian military personnel on the Ukrainian side of the border. Lukashenko has also stated that Belarus and Russia have developed a defense plan for the western border of Belarus, which could be adjusted to an offensive strategy if necessary. Additionally, Lukashenko has warned of potential escalation leading to the destruction of Ukraine if negotiations do not take place. The Belarusian leader has also mentioned strengthening the Belarusian army with serious weapons in anticipation of a possible strike from the West on the Union State.
