Sep 3, 2024, 11:24 AM
Liridon Rexhepi, a Kosovan national, was arrested by Turkish authorities on charges of managing a financial network for Israel's Mossad intelligence agency. Rexhepi was detained by the Istanbul Security Directorate TEM Branch on August 30 after being identified by Turkish intelligence (MIT). He is accused of transferring money to Mossad operatives in Turkey and financing their activities, including payments for resources in Syria using cryptocurrency. Turkish security sources confirmed that Rexhepi admitted to making these money transfers. Kosovo’s foreign ministry stated its consulate in Istanbul is in contact with Turkish authorities. The arrest highlights ongoing tensions and covert operations involving Israeli intelligence in the region, with reports indicating Rexhepi also used drones for surveillance.
