Lindsey Vonn, 40, Returns from 2019 Retirement to U.S. Ski Team, Eyes 2026 Winter Olympics
Nov 14, 2024, 02:42 PM
Former Olympic gold medalist and world champion Lindsey Vonn announced on Thursday that she is coming out of retirement to rejoin the U.S. Ski Team at age 40. Vonn, considered one of the greatest skiers of all time, retired in 2019 due to injuries. She intends to race again and possibly compete in future events, including the 2026 Winter Olympics, six years after her last Olympic appearance. "I'm trying to find something that I'm as passionate about as ski racing, and I've come to the conclusion that nothing will replace ski racing," Vonn said. "I have aspirations. I love to go fast. How fast can I go? I don't know." She added that getting back to skiing without pain has been an incredible journey. Vonn will begin training with the U.S. team in Colorado.
