Lil Durk Arrested in Florida on Murder-for-Hire Charges in Killing of Quando Rondo's Cousin
Oct 25, 2024, 10:52 AM
Chicago rapper Lil Durk, born Durk Derrick Banks, age 32, has been arrested in Florida on federal murder-for-hire charges, according to multiple reports. He was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in Broward County on Thursday night and is being held without bond. The arrest comes hours after five alleged members of his rap collective, Only the Family (OTF), were charged in California with conspiring to kill rapper Quando Rondo in Los Angeles. The plot was allegedly retaliation for Quando Rondo's suspected involvement in the 2020 killing of Chicago rapper King Von in Atlanta. The five individuals, identified as Kavon London Grant (OTF DeDe), Deandre Dontrell Wilson (OTF Vonni), Keith Jones (OTF Boogie), David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston, are accused of murder-for-hire and use of a machine gun, facing potential life imprisonment or the death penalty if convicted. The assassination attempt resulted in the death of Quando Rondo's cousin and friend, Lul Pab, in August 2022, while Quando Rondo was uninjured in the shooting. Lil Durk faces federal charges including murder-for-hire conspiracy, which carry a mandatory minimum of 30 years and a maximum of life imprisonment or the death penalty.
