Les Miles Sues LSU, NCAA Over 37 Vacated Wins Affecting Hall of Fame Eligibility
Jun 17, 2024, 02:53 PM
Former LSU coach Les Miles has filed a lawsuit against LSU, the NCAA, and the College Football Hall of Fame, alleging that the decision to vacate 37 of his wins has cost him eligibility for the College Football Hall of Fame. Miles argues that LSU's self-imposed penalties, which resulted in the vacated wins, unfairly dropped his career win percentage to .5966, just below the .600 threshold required for Hall of Fame consideration. The lawsuit, filed in federal court, seeks to have the vacated wins reinstated and to declare Miles eligible for Hall of Fame nomination. Miles, who turned 70 in November 2023, was eligible for the Hall of Fame but has not been nominated by any of his former schools, including Oklahoma State, LSU, and Kansas. The lawsuit also claims that LSU's actions deprived Miles of his property rights to the wins and his chance at Hall of Fame recognition. The lawsuit describes LSU's penalties as "irrational and unfair."
