Colombia Reveals Names of 1,934 'False Positives' Victims from 2002-2008 Under Álvaro Uribe's Presidency
Nov 30, 2024, 10:08 PM
The Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) in Colombia has published the names of 1,934 victims of extrajudicial executions, known as 'false positives,' carried out by the armed forces between 2002 and 2008 during Álvaro Uribe's presidency. This marks the first time such a list has been made public. The publication was part of a tribute to the victims' families. The total number of victims of these crimes is reported to be 6,402. The president of MAFAPO, an organization representing victims' families, questioned why the names of military personnel involved in these killings have not been disclosed.
