Body of Elizabeth Pollard, 64, Found in Pennsylvania Sinkhole After Search for Missing Cat
Dec 6, 2024, 07:18 PM
Authorities in Pennsylvania have recovered the body of Elizabeth Pollard, a 64-year-old grandmother who went missing after falling into a sinkhole in Unity Township, Westmoreland County. Pollard was last seen on Monday evening, accompanied by her 5-year-old granddaughter, searching for her missing cat, Pepper, near a restaurant about half a mile from her home in the village of Marguerite. Her car was found parked approximately 20 feet from a sinkhole that may have only recently opened up. The sinkhole, about 30 feet deep, exposed a three-story-deep abandoned coal mine. After a four-day search involving state police and digging crews working through mud and rock, officials announced on Friday that remains believed to be Pollard were found about 12 feet from where the ground gave way. There has been no indication of Pepper's whereabouts.
