Health officials have noted that the new cases have no history of domestic or international travel, indicating local mosquito transmission. Vector control officials are intensifying mosquito treatments in the Baldwin Park area to prevent further spread of the disease. Most patients infected with dengue do not exhibit symptoms, but one in four will develop signs of the illness.
