Vitalik Buterin Donates 10 Million Thai Baht ($292K) to Khao Kheow Zoo, Adopts Moo Deng for Two Years, Pledges 88 ETH
Dec 26, 2024, 12:46 PM
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has made a donation of 10 million Thai baht (approximately $292,230) to the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Thailand. The donation, which will be disbursed in two installments, is intended to support the zoo's wildlife adoption initiative and help build a new enclosure for Moo Deng, a five-month-old pygmy hippo that Buterin adopted for two years. Buterin had previously visited Moo Deng in November. Additionally, he has pledged 88 ETH for wildlife conservation efforts, further emphasizing his commitment to animal welfare. The announcement has also led to an 82% surge in the value of the Moodeng token, reflecting the impact of Buterin's philanthropic actions on the cryptocurrency market.
