A deputy U.S. Marshal shot an 18-year-old suspect, Kentrell Flowers, who attempted to carjack the Marshal's vehicle outside the home of Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor in Washington, D.C. The incident occurred early Friday morning over the July 4th weekend when Flowers approached the Marshal's car, brandished a firearm, and demanded the vehicle. Two deputies, part of Sotomayor's security detail, responded by shooting Flowers in the mouth. The suspect was reportedly driving a stolen vehicle at the time of the attack.
